Q. Will I be charged during my Free Trial Period?

A. No. Your free trial period is completely free. Only at the end of the trial period will you become a paid subscriber, unless you cancel your subscription, which you can do at any time (refer to "How can I cancel" heading below). 


Q. Are all films part of a subscription?

A. Almost every film on the site is available to watch as part of a subscription package. Some films however may be rental only, and some  may not be available to all geographical regions due to the rights available.

SPECIAL NOTE : Proximity - "Proximity" is a co-production between Garage and Teton Gravity Research. Garage legally has distribution rights to offer Proximity as a rental only movie for the next few months, after which it will move into the Garage subscription offering.


Q. When can I cancel my subscription?

A. You can cancel literally at any time. If you cancel before the end of your paid monthly subscription ends, you will still be able to watch content on Garage until that end date, but you will no longer be charged.


Q. How can I cancel my subscription?

A. You can cancel literally at any time. If you wish to cancel your subscription, simply login to your Garage Account and you will see a "My Account" section at the top right of the screen. From there, you can cancel, re-subscribe, change payment details, amend your password etc.


Q. How can I change my account or payment details?

A. You can manage all your account information within the "My Account" section. You can change your credit card details, or Paypal details, amend your password or email address etc.


Q. What if I forget my password or username?

A. Simple. Just try to log in, and after entering your email address just click "forgot password" and you will be emailed a new password. If you can't login with your email address, please contact us with your details [email protected] and we will confirm (and if necessary, correct) your details in our system and respond to you as soon as possible.


Q. I have a coupon, how do I use it?

A. Your coupon is mostly likely a free trial or discount. Simply go to the "GET GARAGE" tab. This is essentially the registration and checkout section. Here you can enter the coupon code and you will see notations that your coupon has been accepts (or not) and such promotional aspects will be employed as part of your account setup.


QWhat devices can I watch the films on?

A. The site is specifically designed to watch on all forms of devices (except where some manufactures may have developed limitations), including phones, tablets, and PC's/Macs, as well as connected to your TV via:

  • HDMI cable
  • Chromecast
  • Apple TV

If you have a Sony web-enabled Bravia TV or Sony Blu Ray player, then you can directly access a Garage Channel through your TV. Follow the prompts on your Sony Bravia or Blu Ray device when selecting internet channels. More direct TV options are to come.


Q. I have subscribed to Garage on my Sony TV. Is this account now linked to the Garage online site so that I can also watch Garage on my phone etc?

A. Yes.


Q. What does my internet speed need to be to watch these films?

A. The internet is obviously an important part of all internet streaming services. Your speed needs to be at a reasonable level to ensure the content is delivered to you satisfactorily. It might be prudent to do the following.

    1. Watch some trailers to ascertain the quality you are likely to experience.
    2. Conduct your own speedtest, via using online free speedtest services  Hopefully you will experience a download speed of not less than 650 KB/s (0.61 MB/s). This will ensure a good result. 
    3. If your line speed doesnt look very good, simply contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and talk to them about your line speed and see what can be done. 


Q. I am having problems with the stream. It keeps buffering or I get a very low res version of the film.

A. There are a number of things to help out here:

    1. Ok, first thing is to check your internet line speed. (see Question and Answer above). The films are loaded into a few quality renditions, and the appropriate rendition is sent to you based on your internet connection speed. Hence a poor line speed will result in either buffering or a low res version of the film. Therefore you may need to improve your connection speed via your Internet Service Provider (ISP). 
    2. Secondly, Check that your internet connection isn't being used to support other downloading such as someone else in the house watching Youtube, as this will eat up your download speed and affect your result.
    3. Thirdly, you may need to stop the film and re-start it. In many cases this provides a far better result.


Q. What format are the films?

A. The films are as per the original format, so if a film was made 15 years ago and is 4:3 screen format, then this is how the film will be delivered. Most new films are 16:9 screen format and HD quality.



Q. Can I download a film and watch it later?

A. This is a streaming site, and therefore you can not download any film. All films are served to you as a 'Video-on-demand' service, so you simply need a reasonable internet connection and away you go at any time.


Q. What if I am overseas, can I still watch with my account?

A. The Garage platform is a global platform, however not all of the content is globally available. Some content therefore may not be available to watch in each territory.


Q. What is the data cost?

A. Garage does not charge you anything for the data you use, simply your monthly subscription or your rental costs. However as you have a plan/package with your Internet Service Provider (ISP), data fees or usage may form part of that arrangement.
